We provide a safe refuge and a second chance for unclaimed animals from various municipal pounds and, space permitting, we accept other homeless, neglected or injured animals from their rescuers.
Adopt-A-Pet is a "shelter without walls" - we do not own a shelter facility. All of our animals are boarded at cooperating animal hospitals or in volunteer foster homes until they are adopted by their new families. Animals remain with us for as long as it takes to find them a suitable permanent new home.
Because we do not have a facility to warehouse unadoptable animals (based on age, health or temperament), Adopt-A-Pet is only able to take in adoptable pets. We strive to make sure that all of our animals will make suitable family pets.

Pets In Need Midwest was founded in 1991 by Pat and Rudy Klimo in Ringwood, Illinois. We are a state licensed, No-Kill, Non-Profit Animal Shelter. Pets In Need Midwest is registered with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and we qualify for tax-exempt status. Our mission is to "Champion the humane treatment of domesticated animals" through the following means:
Adhering to the principle that no animal will ever be euthanized to make room for another. Providing temporary shelter and veterinary care as necessary for those unwanted or lost pets until either their owners or suitable adoptive homes can be located. Reuniting lost pets with their owners.
Locating suitable adoptive homes for unwanted dogs, cats, and other pets.
Promoting public awarenesss of and accessibility to spay/neuter programs for pets. Acting as an ambassador for our adoptees in their new homes so that we may continue to work with and support the animals, their owners, and the public.

Young At Heart is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming adult and senior dogs and cats. We are a small rescue that utilizes a small network of foster homes and a small cat adoption center to save our pets. The majority of our pets are between the ages of 3 and 8 years, however you will occasionally find one a little younger or a little older in our care.
Mature dogs and cats give so much and expect so little. They know you've rescued them and they respond to a loving touch, soft voice and kind eyes just as we humans do. We rescue them and we find them new forever homes, and they are welcome to stay with us until we are able to find that special someone.
Young At Heart Pet Rescue was founded in April of 2005. Though we are just in our youth as an organization, our hope is to find a home for every adoptable pet we rescue, to educate the public on the benefits of adopting a mature pet, and to decrease the euthanasia rate for older, adoptable pets in Illinois.
Adopt a mature or older pet. You won't regret it!

We are an all volunteer, registered, not-for-profit organization dedicated to rescuing stray and abandoned animals in the villages of the Northwest Suburbs. All of the monies raised by Strays Halfway House are used for the animals. There are no paid members of our organization.
The animal control officers of each village bring stray and abandoned animals to a holding kennel, where they are kept for up to 7 days. During those days Strays Halfway House works in conjunction with the police in an attempt to reunite lost companion animals with their human friends.

Incorporated in 1966, Anderson Animal Shelter provides temporary housing for approximately 3,400 dogs, cats, birds, gerbils, hamsters, ferrets and other homeless or abandoned pets. We are committed to a low-kill philosophy (100% adoption of adoptable animals) and so do not place time limits on any of the animals in our care. In 2001 an on-site veterinary clinic was added to provide health care for Shelter animals and to assist in the goal of spaying/neutering all adopted dogs and cats before they leave the Shelter.
Our Mission: To establish Anderson Animal Shelter as a premier facility dedicated to compassionate and humane treatment of homeless companion animals through direct care, education and communithy outreach programs.
