The Buddy Foundation of Arlington Heights, Illinois was established by the concerned and caring animal lovers from Chicago’s Northwest Suburbs, based on the necessity for a quality no-kill animal shelter. We are strictly an all volunteer organization with all funding - from adoption fees to our many fundraisers - benefiting the animals in our care. The Buddy Foundation is dedicated to finding good, loving, responsible homes for the dogs/puppies and cats/kittens that we foster. Our goal is to help them become cherished family members and receive the attention and gentle kindness they so deserve. Most of our animals were found strayed or abandoned in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. We are a small shelter with limited resources. Thus, we do not like to take in unwanted pets. Instead, we encourage pet owners to be committed to their pets by providing them with a safe & secure home for their lifetime.

Second Chance Pet Adoption founded in 1995, is a not-for-profit, all volunteer rescue and foster home organization serving the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago and surrounds. We foster stray, abandoned, sick, or injured cats and kittens primarily. All animals are given routine veterinary care or any emergency care and then placed in private foster homes.
Most of our animals are fostered for two weeks before they are available for adoption. This gives us a chance to observe the cat's personality and health. After a cat or kitten is placed into a foster home, they are given love, care, attention, and socialization in a safe and warm home environment.

Aid to Animals of Northern Illinois
Aid to Animals is a Illinois shelter concerned with finding homes for some of the millions of homeless animals in our country. We take in cats and dogs. In the spring, there are many homeless pregnant cats who we place in foster homes. The kittens are spayed or neutered and then placed for adoption. The mama cats are spayed and also placed for adoption. Many times we also rescue dogs from shelters and holding facilities when their "time" is up. We try to rescue those sweet, loving animals that might find a home. We are strong advocates that adult dogs and cats can make the best pets for many reasons. Also, most potential adopters want puppies and kittens, however, when they realize the work and destruction involved, many times the kittens and puppies are given up to the shelter. Adults are calmer and learn quickly. They are extremely appreciative of the chance for a new home. Please consider an adult pet instead of a youngster.

Orphans of the Storm has spent most of a century caring for stray, abandoned, abused and neglected dogs and cats from northeast Illinois. Our history is a colorful one, starting with famous dancer and fashion trendsetter Irene Castle, continuing through the dedication and commitment of animal welfare activist Thelma Zwirner, and her son and current president, Richard Zwirner.
We operate one of the country’s oldest and largest animal shelters, offering refuge and rehabilitation, finding warm and loving adoptive homes for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs and cats every year. We hope that once you get to know us, you’ll want to become a supporter by adopting from us, spreading the word about us, or helping in other ways.

Animal Education and Rescue, NFP
is an Illinois not for profit organization. We are a 501 (c) 3 organization. 3. The purpose of the foundation is to help countless numbers of animals and people.
1. We speak to schools, civic organizations, and clubs about responsible pet ownership. This will include the reasons for spaying and neutering, general care, and the do's and don'ts of owning a pet. We teach pet owners about how animals communicate with each other and with humans. We have designed special programs to introduce animals to children through animal body language sessions and pet education.
2. We provide pet therapy programs. Volunteers and their pets will visit nursing homes, assisted living facilities, schools for the disabled and hospitals. (Studies have proven that overall mental and physical health of humans is improved when they are exposed to animals.)
3. We are a resource for other animal related non-profit groups. During our public speaking and through our office we will provide a list of animal shelters, foster care foundations and other animal related organizations.
4. We assist people in placing abandoned, abused and surrendered pets of all kinds.
