Pets In Distress is an all volunteer run "no-kill" rescue group which takes in and places for adoption unwanted pets.
We do not have a shelter but operate as a foster network. This means that we rely solely on volunteers to provide foster homes for our pets until they are permanently placed in adoptive homes.

Animal Care and Control is part of Palm Beach County Government. Our shelter was started in 1969. We are located at 7100 Belvedere Road, West Palm Beach, Florida (five miles west of I-95).
In 1974, the shelter became a division of the Public Safety Department. Programs and services were expanded to keep pace with the growing human and animal population. In 1980, the division became fully accredited by the Humane Society of the United States. Animal Care and Control was the first agency in the southeast and the second in the entire nation to achieve this distinction.

Animal Matters is a not-for-profit organization that was established in 1998 with the goal of educating the general public on the use and abuse of animals. We focus on the inherent link between what we eat, wear and use to the well-being of our animal friends, our health and our environment. We attempt to achieve this goal by producing and distributing educational materials (including Animal Matters Online) to people who have never had the chance to learn of the cruelty to which animals are subjected and how this affects them and their society. WE DO NOT HAVE A FACILITY FOR PETS. WE NOW ACT ONLY AS A REOSOURCE FOR HOMELESS ANIMALS -- MATCHING THEM TO LOVING HOMES.
