We are a 501(c)(3), non-profit corporation formed with the goal of increasing the quality of life for pet animals and helping to reduce the homeless pet population through the following channels:
Community & Pet Owner Education - we will educate the community about the medical, behavioral, and developmental needs of pets through various outlets, such as newspaper articles, television shows, seminars, and private consulting. We will also consult with potential pet owners to help them evaluate the proper pet for their living situation.
Veterinary Community Education - Through presentations at veterinary seminars, we will educate veterinarians about the importance of including behavioral services as part of the veterinary hospital. We will also advise them on how to bring behavior and training services into their hospital, whether they train on-site personnel or hire outside trainers.
Educational Materials - we will produce and share educational materials that can be used by trainers, veterinarians, and the media to further the goal of animal welfare.
Animal Rescue - on a limited basis, we will also seek appropriate homes for homeless animals.

The Pepin County Humane Society has been in business for close to 30 years. We are a very small shelter with only 5 dog kennels & 8 cat kennels. Because we're so small it's very difficult to find homes for all our homeless pets. Also, because we're so small we are able to get to know the animals that cross our path VERY well.

Our mission is to provide a loving, safe, temporary home for dogs, puppies, cats and kittens coming from unfortunate circumstances; be it a shelter, another rescue, or simply an individual that can no longer care for them. We will provide these animals with age appropriate vaccinations including DHLPP, Rabies, and Kennel Cough. Our rescued dogs and puppies will be spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, wormed, on flea/tick prevention as well as heartworm prevention. Our cats and kittens will be vaccinated, spayed/neutered, leukemia tested and wormed. We are dedicated to the placement of these neglected, abandoned, or otherwise unwanted dogs, puppies, cats and kittens into loving, permanent homes.
