Animal Care & Control - Queens Pet Receiving Center
Animal Care & Control of New York City (AC&C) is the only animal care organization in New York City that never turns away animals.
Since 1995 the AC&C has been the organization responsible for New York City's municipal shelter system, rescuing, caring for, and finding loving homes for homeless and abandoned animals in New York City. AC&C facilities operate in all five boroughs, and we maintain 15 vans to pick up lost and abandoned animals throughout the city. In 2003, over 50,000 animals passed through the doors of AC&C facilities

We are a vet clinic who has also devoted some of our time to trying to help orphaned, left behind, or unwanted pets. We work with cats more than dogs, just because it is much more difficult to keep a dog at the office than it is a cat.

The ACL's mission is...
Protecting animals from improper use, abuse, neglect, inhumane treatment and health hazards.
Educating the public about responsible pet ownership.
Sheltering lost, abandoned and unwanted animals.
Preventing the birth of unwanted animals.
Reuniting lost pets and their families.
Adopting animals into loving and responsible homes.
Lovingly caring for the pets that reside in our animal shelter.
This mission is accomplished through the dedication and energy of our small shelter staff, board of directors, and legion of faithful volunteers. The Animal Care League accepts dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens, which we care for until we find responsible new owners. These animals have either been surrendered by their owners who can no longer keep them or have been transferred from other animal control facilities. Our ability to accept animals is limited to the space we have available. We euthanize animals only in cases of irremediable health problems or other grave circumstances. We have had an early spay/neuter program in place since 1994; this allows us to spay or neuter each animal we offer for adoption, one of our contributions to ending the horrible cycle of pet overpopulation.
We rely entirely on membership dues, donations, and proceeds from our fundraising projects to finance our mission
