We provide the necessary food, water, a clean place to live, and daily exercise for the animals in our care, as well as providing as much love and socialization as possible. Our goal is to find homes for as many of these animals as possible.

The purpose of the Greeneville - Greene County Humane Society is to prevent cruelty to animals and to relieve suffering among animals through the extension of humane education to children, as well as to adults; the enforcement of existing statutes and laws against cruelty to animals by instituting proceedings in cooperation with law enforcement and judicial agencies; and operating a humane animal shelter. We are a "low" kill shelter - meaning that we only euthanize in instances where the animal is injured beyond medical assistance. All our animals stay with us until they are adopted.

For Cat's Sake! Rescue is an all volunteer, non-profit, no-kill organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned cats and kittens. We do not have a physical shelter, but rather a network of caring, qualified foster homes. We provide our cats with veterinary care, spays and neuters, loving foster homes and finally adopt them into permanent homes. To date we have rescued over 1,200 cats and kittens.
Our mission further includes initiatives that help educate the public about pet over-population, spaying and neutering, the disadvantages of declawing kittens and cats, how to live a long and healthy life with your feline friend, and dealing with behavioral and other issues.

We are a city and county funded shelter that is dedicated to public safety and animal rescue. We continue to work to control the animal population within our area, by requiring all animals adopted from our facility be spay or neutered. With this program we hope to reduce the rate of euthanasia. Our staff is always available to educate the public about the health and welfare issues of animals, and enforce cruelty and neglect laws as well as ordinances within our city and county.
We also work hard to reunite lost and stray pets with their owners and promote new and responsible pet ownership. If you lose your pet please make every effort to find them. Visit your local Animal Control Shelter and all surrounding shelters, post signs, posters with veterinarians and stores, as well as ads in the newspapers. Remember THEY depend on You.
