Cats-Are-Purrsons-TooIncorporated in Illinois in 1989, Cats-Are-Purrsons-Too began as a safe haven in the home of Sister Marijon Binder for cats that elderly neighbors could no longer keep because of changing life situations. As word spread, "neighbors" form all over Chicago and the Northern/Northwest suburbs began to call begging for board for their beloved companion cats during a short term hospital or nursing home stay, and/or to keep them if/when the person died. At the same time it seems that little catnip calling cards in secret felines language were being passed around in alleys and dumping grounds where cats and kittens were in desperately unsafe situations. Belleglen SanctuaryBelleglen Sanctuary is a small non-profit organization that provides sanctuary to disabled and special needs cats. We have cats available for adoption who are former blood donors or who have special physical, health, or psychological needs. Some cats are elderly or have come from abusive or neglectful homes. We are committed to spay/neuter and safe outdoor environment education for cats. Belleglen Sanctuary was supported by volunteer care from a feline blood donor colony, donations from individuals and organizations, adoption fees, and volunteerism. Cat-Tales RescueWe started to spay/neuter the strays that came to our backdoor for food in fall of 2002. We cared for that first mom and her 3 kittens, they were feral so we released them and continue to care for them. We then spay/neutered all the feral and stray cats that came to our yard for food. All were vaccinated(in order to have a fighting chance in a world). We then, without searching, rescued a mom and her 7 kittens that next fall. We then started to work with a friend and use petfinder to try to find homes for all of them, we did.
