Henry County Animal ControlThe Henry County Animal Control Department was established in its current facility in Cambridge, Illinois in 1978. It has a staff of two, the Animal Control Officer and an Office Assistant . This department enforces state and county ordinances pertaining to animal abuse, bites, rabies control, and handles the issuing of rabies tags and domestic animal registration for all of Henry County. Over the years the Department has been a self-supporting program, costing no taxpayer dollars except for vehicles and a building expansion. The Animal Control Department also works closely with, and is currently a branch of, the Henry County Sheriff's Office. PAWS of PAPAWS primary mission is to eliminate the suffering caused by the pet over-population tragedy by providing a low cost spay/neuter program. Our adoption animals result from unwanted litters, strays, and owner surrenders. PAWS tries to find the best match for both the new owner and the pet. To accomplish this we require all pets in the household be spayed/neutered and that the pets be kept indoors. We also check veterinary records for existing pets, references, and the landlord's pet policy.
