Laramie Peak Humane SocietyPreviously been known as the Douglas Animal Shelter, Laramie Peak Humane Society was selected as the new name for the community animal shelter. LPHS is a non-profit organization that serves companion animals in Douglas, WY and the surrounding area. The purpose of LPHS is to protect, care for and provide for the reasonable and humane disposition of homeless dogs and cats in our community. This organization assists care givers and pet owners in protecting, caring for and treating animals in a compassionate and humane manner. We work hard to educate the community about the importance of spaying and neutering to help keep the number of unwanted dogs and cats down, as well as advocating for the humane treatment of animals. City/County Animal ShelterAnimal Control is composed of the Animal Control Supervisor, three Animal Control Officers, and one full-time Animal Shelter Assistant. This division of the Police Department enforces the City's ordinances related to animal control, which includes capturing animals running at-large & responding to calls concerning sick, injured, abandoned, lost, or dead animals. Staff handle bite cases, calls concerned with impoundments, destruction of animals infected with rabies, & related calls dealing with nuisances involving animals.
