The mission of the Humane Society at Happypaws Farm in Arlington is to care for all dogs in need but we have a special place in our hearts for the elderly, sick or disabled dogs. We spay or neuter all of our residents before they leave our sanctuary. We assist in placing animals where the caretaker is terminally ill or has just died or is going into a nursing home.

My ability to not cage and care for all my animals in a home setting is limiting when it comes to numbers of rescues I can make. I also receive lots of requests about personal cats that you can no longer keep. I apologize, but I must save my room for strays, injured or sick older cats and kittens only.

Whatcom Voice of the Animals (WVOA) has a simple mission for its existence, to save as many lives as possible from needless death. We are a no-kill organization that has no central shelter. Instead, our compassionate volunteers open their homes as foster care facilities. Animals staying in foster care are cared for and nurtured until adoptions are arranged.

The Whatcom Humane Society (WHS) has been caring for animals throughout Whatcom County since 1902.
As the oldest non-profit animal welfare organization in Whatcom County, WHS is committed to caring for any animal in need. As an open-admission shelter, the dedicated staff and volunteers at the Whatcom Humane Society cared for approximately 2,600 homeless, unwanted and abused animals in 2003.
The Whatcom Humane Society has a long-standing, positive working relationship with the City of Bellingham, having provided 24 hour animal control and rescue services since 1973.
In addition to providing these services for the City of Bellingham, WHS also has animal control contracts with the Cities of Blaine, Sumas, Everson/Nooksack and a working agreement with the Nooksack Indian Reservation.
