The Feline Refuge is a South Carolina Registered Non Profit Organization in good standing with the state of South Carolina since May /05/1995. To date the Feline Refuge has been successful in reducing the stray population by 20,000 cats and kittens with low cost spay/neuter programs with the help of Probono Veterinarian surgery. Currently the Refuge places 250 vaccinated and sterile animals in loving homes every year. Our staff is composed of Non-Salary Veterinarians and Volunteers who actively donate their energy to pet owner assistance. The Goal of the Feline Refuge is to actively demonstrate Pet Owner responsibility . It is our goal to circumvent the cycle of animal abuse and domestic violence through juvenile and adult self-esteem programs. It is also our goal to educate and empower caring members of the community and other animal advocacy organizations with practical overpopulation solutions and observe the law.

To rescue pets from area shelters & veterinarian’s offices that are scheduled for euthanasia or who have little hope of being adopted or rescued from other resources. To provide safe-haven, medical care, socialization and love treating them as our own until God sends their permanent families to us, or until He calls them home. To treat all, both animal and human, with Christian love and charity as we perform the work God calls us to do as stewards of His creation.

Over the years we have expanded our facility, but we continue to reach our capacity because our community is growing and because the pet overpopulation crisis is not abating. In 2002 the shelter served nearly 5,000 homeless or unwanted animals.
But there is good news. We are very proud to have an adoption rate which exceeds the ASPCA national average. And we're working hard to spread the news about pet adoption, spaying and neutering, and responsible pet ownership.
