The Lyons Den Rescue commits itself to finding safe, loving homes for those animals that are in the shelter system. We will provide companions that are healthy and compatible for those persons meeting the requirements set forth in our adoption agreement. In order to address the pet overpopulation problem the Lyons Den Rescue also commits to having all animals spayed or neutered before placement unless a spay/neuter contract is in place (only for puppies too young to have a spay/neuter). Also, the Lyons Den Rescue will provide educational materials to the community at large to make persons aware of this problem.

In the early fifties, there was no Strayhaven Animal Shelter. There was only a group of caring people, who rescued strays, keeping them in their homes until these pitiful dogs and cats were found loving homes. In 1960, this dedicated group decided it was impractical and impossible to keep all the animals in their homes, and Strayhaven Animal Shelter was built and Incorporated.
A retired gentleman by the name of Perry Dehart, donated the land and his time to build the shelter. With help from concerned citizens and some government loans, the shelter was completed. From the beginning, the shelter was, and still is, privately run. It is the only for stray dogs and cats, to shelter, inoculate, de-worm, and find good homes. Strayhaven is unique in that it keeps its strays longer than most shelters.

At the PSPCA, we believe proper pet care should be accessible and affordable for everyone. So we offer many low-cost and free services to animal lovers throughout the state. How? Through the generous and continued support of our friends and donors, whose help we appreciate tremendously. Without you, we'd be unable to provide many of our services and programs. A simple "thank you" would be an ineloquent understatement of our gratitude, but we'll say it anyway: thank you!

A Wet Nose Dog Rescue (AWNDR) is very small rescue located in south central PA. We are a short distance from Hagerstown MD (approx. 12 miles) and 8 miles east of I-81. We are dedicated to all dogs but primarily german shepherd dogs. We concentrate on moving dogs from high kill shelters to foster homes and then to their forever homes. We have alot of experience with the shepherd breed and want to help these dogs who have been the victim of unwilling or unable owners or those dogs found as strays. All of these dogs will be temperment tested and placed accordingly. We are a not for profit rescue and are waiting for the approval of our 501c3.If you do not see what you are looking for let me know and I will see if I can find something to meet your needs.

Lycoming Animal Protection Society (LAPS) was founded in 1992 in Montoursville, Pennsylvania.During its brief history, many animals have been protected and adopted from this small, no-kill shelter. In time, LAPS became a non-profit organization. LAPS continues to be a haven for homeless felines and would like to eventually be able to offer assistance to other animal species, as well.
