Our rescue is operating in memory of Pal. Pal was a blind brittany who entered a kill shelter as a stray. I was a volunteer and it was love at first sight. He sat in a kennel for 20 days and I was determined that on Christmas Eve if no one had adopted him that he was coming home with me. He was part of our family for 9 months until he got very ill. He was always there for me. Despite being blind he learned our house quickly and was one of my best walking partners. At Fern Hollow Farm we try to save dogs like Pal. The ones that are in trouble from being euthanized because there are so many without homes. We want the people who adopt from us to experience the joy and love that a pet can bring into your life.

We have been rescuing homeless cats and kittens in the central Pennsylvania region for nearly six (6) years and were involved in three major rescues in 2005. In January thirteen feral cats were trapped at the Toftrees Resort when management wanted the colony removed. In February 121 cats were rescued over a 6 week period from a home in Spring Mills and in May 59 cats were rescued from a home in only one week. To date Fonda’s Foundlings have rescued 452 cats and kittens, placed 381 in loving homes and have 71 awaiting adoption. Most of the available cats are quite friendly and ready to go to their forever home. All adults have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and wormed.

Our Mission is to reduce the overpopulation crisis of ferals, stray, abandoned or otherwise unwanted cats. Our plan will consist of the use of TNR (where appropriate); relocation, foster placement, euthanasia and adoption. The ultimate goal of our program is to reduce the suffering of any and all cats in need. We do this buy pulling cats from kill shelters, assisting with feral colonies and encourage adopters to spay and neuter their current pets. Cats not adopted in a timely fashion are euthanized to end their suffering. Cats that are ill or will not fit into a multi cat household and cannot be released outside will be euthanized. It is the belief of this rescue that anyone is better off dead when faced with the alternative of living in an abusive or sadistic home.
