The shelter is in DESPERATE need of volunteers! We need to find some volunteers willing to come every week to the shelter to walk dogs, and socialize with the cats. Even if you can only give 1 hour a week - that would be a big help! It helps the animals by giving them exercise and socialization skills. They are not as timid to potential adopters if they are used to people. Please help give some much needed attention to these poor animals. If you are interested in scheduling times to come down to the shelter, you can contact us here.

Carbon County Friends of Animals is a non-profit organization which advocates the elimination of animal suffering though the sheltering and finding homes for unwanted pets. We also promote low-cost spaying and neutering, and provide educational outreach concerning the welfare of pets. We are a privately run organization, founded in 1998 as a direct need to shelter unwanted cats within our county. Although "Carbon County" is part of our organization name, we do not receive any funding from the county or any other government agency.

The Humane Society of Cambria County, which has provided 31 years of service to companion animals and the public was founded in 1976 by a group of people led by Gail Suppes who were concerned about the welfare of stray and unwanted animals within the county. We are a private, not-for-profit, incorporated organization, holding a class NP kennel license and are inspected and audited quarterly by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. The HSCC operates as an open entry shelter, meaning that we accept stray as well as owner surrendered companion animals, including those that are sick, elderly, pregnant, injured or aggressive. We have received more than 123,700 animals since the shelter opened.
