We are the municipal animal shelter that takes in stray and homeless animals for the City of Stillwater. We are staffed by a supervisor and two animal control officers who enforce city ordinances. We are small, 13 dog runs and 26 cat or puppy cages, but have many new animals available weekly. We are unique because we have two shelters in one location by leasing to our local "no kill" Humane Society organization who has many more animals not listed on this site. (They have their own site on petfinder now.) However, our shelter is NOT a "no-kill" shelter and we need to make room for new animals weekly, so the animals listed here are in desparate need of homes. Not all of our animals are listed, so if you are close, please come visit!

Pontotoc Animal Welfare Society was incorporated as a nonprofit, charitable orgainization in September, 1982. PAWS operates the animal shelter for the purpose of sheltering lost, unwanted, sick and injured animals until a new home can be found or the animal is humanely disposed. PAWS also has an agreement with the city of Ada for the placement of impounded dogs and cats. These animals must be kept for 72 hours allowing the owner time to reclaim. Donations to this organization are tax deductible. We are always in need of collars, leashes, canned cat and dog food, treats, toys, bath towels, paper towels, pens and paper. We love having visitors. Please come and see our new "cat room" where cats can be free in a nice sunny room to play and sleep. PAWS also now has a "visiting room". There you can take the dog/cat that you like and get to know them better. WAGS, WOOFS and MEOWS from all the furkids at PAWS and thank you for visiting our site.
