The Capital District Humane Association is the oldest, all volunteer, no-kill, private animal welfare group dedicated to serving the Capital Region of New York State. We are incorporated, approved by the ASPCA of NY and registered as a 501(c)(3) Not For Profit Charity with New York State; therefore all donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. We are an all-volunteer rescue group that operates strictly on public support. Therefore, all donations go directly to the care of the animals. Our goal is to find every animal a loving home. We take in animals on a space available basis and keep them an unlimited amount of time until the right home can be found. CDHA has saved hundreds of animals since 1988. We have rescued cats, dogs, horses, pigs, cows, and other animals. Where there is an animal in need, we try to help in some way.

Who is "A Cause for Paws?"
We are a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization. We have no shelter of our own, so we foster and board all of our animals until we can find them loving homes. We rescue our animals from the streets of New York City (and surrounding areas) and from local kill shelters. Our goal is to educate the public about the benefits of spaying and neutering, create awareness about the consequences of breeding and buying and continue to save the lives of animals.

Animal Care & Control of New York City (AC&C) is the only animal care organization in New York City that never turns away animals.
Since 1995 the AC&C has been the organization responsible for New York City's municipal shelter system, rescuing, caring for, and finding loving homes for homeless and abandoned animals in New York City. AC&C facilities operate in all five boroughs, and we maintain 15 vans to pick up lost and abandoned animals throughout the city. In 2003, over 50,000 animals passed through the doors of AC&C facilities.
