We are a "network" of rescuers in the Midwest. Many of us have known one another for years from helping with various local rescue groups, shelters, and national breed rescue groups. All of us have had the experience of coming across a dog that needed help that didn’t have a rescue group that could take them into their program. We were finding that regardless of breed or whether a dog is "purebred", there are many of us out there who wanted to help these dogs and need a place to list them. Therefore, we decided to start Midwest Dog Rescue Network to help rescuers help dogs that would otherwise "fall through the cracks". We are a collection of rescuers and some good-hearted individuals, who are just trying to help as many good dogs find homes as possible.

Nebraska Animal Rescue (“NAR) was formed in August of 2002 and was organized to address the desperate need for:
A statewide network of rescue organizations, shelters and humane societies which can network and save many more animals than any one of us can save on our own;
To educate the public about alternatives to buying an animal from a backyard breeder, a casual breeder or a pet store and how to find a good breeder, if needed; and
To educate the public by promoting the benefits of spaying and neutering and to, hopefully, one day put an end to euthanizing healthy, adoptable animals.

Who we are: The Nebraska Humane Society was founded in 1875 and is the fifth oldest Humane Society in the United States! We act as a municipal shelter for more than a half dozen communities. We are not a “no-kill shelter, we are a no-suffering shelter because we accept and provide sanctuary to any animal that comes through our doors.

Paws SOS is a no kill rescue operating in the western Iowa/eastern Nebraska area. We pull pets from kill shelters in the area to give them a chance to find a forever home. At this time, we are not taking owner surrenders, due to lack of space, funds, and a large volume of pets in shelters needing our help. No pets are kept in shelters or cages. All adoptable pets are living in foster homes, giving them exposure to children, cats, and dogs.

We are a no kill animal shelter that can house up to 15 dogs and 10 cats comfortably. We placed 105 animals into new homes in 2004, pretty good for a rural area:) We strive to train each dog to pass the K9 Good Citizen test and make them better pets when they leave than they were when they came. We also help with Colorado and Nebraska pet transports!! One of our dogs even flew to Canada!! Our shelter is attached to the local veterinary hospital so each animal is examined and healthy prior to adoption
