Chatham County Animal Control/Shelter is responsible for the enforcement of state laws and local ordinances related to animal control. CCAC provides for the humane sheltering, care, adoption and reclamation of stray and surrendered animals. We also provide education to increase awareness of rabies, animal control laws, and responsible pet ownership. We strive to eliminate the pet overpopulation problem through mandatory spay and neutering of all our adopted animals.

We're animal lovers making a difference! We advocate the humane treatment of God's creatures, and encourage the spay/neuter of all pets. Our all-volunteer organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life for animals here in Iredell County.
We offer educational programs open to the public and sponsor an Explorer's Post for high school students interested in animal-related careers. We also assist K-9 working dogs, Iredell Search & Rescue dogs, and the Feral Cat Society, whenever possible, with donations of food, supplies and equipment. We are a North Carolina non-profit charity, and donations are tax-deductible

The answer is a combination of personnel and city supervision. The Rocky Mount Animal Shelter is a division of the Police Department but the Animal Control/Shelter personnel are civilian. Our policy is to hold dogs and cats for seven days when picked up stray or at large instead of the three days required by state law. We also do not have a set time or day of week for euthanization. We pride ourselves on the fact that we only put down when we have to. Unfortunately however it is still way to often. We receive full support from our supervisors as long as we remain fiscally responsible.

The Columbus Humane Society, Inc. is a non-profit organization established to: promote responsible pet ownership; reduce numbers of unwanted animals by encouraging pet owners to spay or neuter; improve conditions at the Columbus County Animal Shelter; and provide more opportunities for adoptions. Each year, the Columbus Humane Society makes great strides. Currently our rescued animals are housed in foster homes awaiting adoption as we do not have our own Shelter as yet. Our goal remains to find a building where we can house all our rescued animals in one location.

We are an animal shelter operated by the Cornelius (NC) Police Department. Our Adopt-A-Pet program, run by Officer Kenny Russell, has saved literally hundreds of animals since its formation. We provide a safe, temporary home to stray dogs and cats, but our goal is to place all of our animals in loving homes. A terrific group of volunteers staffs our shelter most weekday afternoons, but we could always use additional hands
