FurEver Friends Animal Rescue Network is a no-kill rescue organization located in Western North Carolina just on the western-outskirts of Asheville. We assist clients from Buncombe County and surrounding counties as well as surrounding states as necessary. We do our best to help all those that come to us or try to recommend alternatives to them if we cannot help them immediately. Presently our network consists mostly of cats and kittens. We would like to work more directly with dogs and puppies and are seeking and individual to volunteer to take over leadership of the canine programs so that we can better fulfill those needs. All our foster animals are kept in private foster homes where they receive the love and care of a family environment.

The Gaston County Department of Animal Control was established to provide for the health and safety of citizens and protect them from animals and the threat of animals. The mission of Animal Control is not only to enhance the safety of citizens, but also to ensure the proper care and treatment of animals. This is accomplished through animal-related services which reflect our professionalism and a concern for responsible pet ownership. One such service is the Pet Adoption Program. Animal Control became a Division of the County Police Department on September 18, 1995.

George's Place Animal Sanctuary was established to help create an environment in which animals displaced due to unforeseen circumstances would have a safe haven in which to live. At this time, we have a network of foster families to care for these cats and dogs until adoptive families are found. Our goal is to gain enough funding through private donations and grants to build a facility in which all of these animals will be cared for until placed permanently in loving homes. For animals that cannot be placed due to medical or behavioral conditions, we will provide a loving environment in which they will always be home.

H.A.R.T. Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping pets find new, loving homes. It was started in June of 2002 by Amy Hobbs, who, disagreeing with the practices of another rescue, decided to start her own. Since H.A.R.T. was started, many pets, both dogs and cats, have found new, loving homes thanks to the efforts of volunteers, and the kindness of people just like you!

Halfway Home Rescue is an all volunteer, non-profit organization
that is dedicated to rescuing dogs from crisis situations such as
abandonment, neglect, and euthanasia at the local high kill shelters.
Halfway Home assesses the health and temperament
of each rescue and provides medical care as needed, such as spaying or
neutering, and also bringing the dogs up to date with their shots. We work
to promote public awareness about the humane treatment of animals through
local awareness, public policy and education, and cruelty prevention programs.
We accept as a moral responsibility that all animals deserve to be treated
with respect and dignity.
