Southern Pines Animal ShelterChartered in 1952, the Southern Pines Animal Shelter was envisioned as a safe haven for homeless and unwanted pets which it remains. Contracted by the cities of Hattiesburg and Petal, our shelter houses all of the animals their wardens pick up as well as animals brought to us by owners from all surrounding counties. St. Francis Animal SanctuaryWe were founded in the year 2000 and in the year 2005 we partnered with Best Friends Animal Society in order to help save animals left behind in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The two organizations worked together on St. Francis grounds for 9 months after the hurricane and saved 4000 lives. Many of our supportrs have moved away, some temporairly and some perminently.
