Franklin County Humane SocietyOur shelter, 20 minutes West of St. Louis County, takes in about 4,000 lost, dumped in the country, and otherwise abandoned or unwanted but perfectly loving and adoptable pets each year, including many purebreds. We shelter and care for them, provide health care and love, and try to return home or adopt out as many as we can. We sponsor spay/neuter programs in the area to cut down on the number of litters, and and educate the community about responsible pet ownership. We participate in adoption events in the St. Louis area each weekend, and place as many pets as we can on Petfinder.com. We are funded ONLY by private donations and fees - we get no tax support or donations from HSUS, ASPCA, United Way, or other large charitable groups. Warrensburg Animal ShelterThe City of Warrensburg provides animal control services to Johnson County, six other area cities, and Whiteman Air Force Base. The Animal Shelter houses stray, surrendered, and impounded animals, which are made available for adoption pursuant to state law. Animals must be spayed or neutered prior to adoption. We are an entirely volunteer group working for the welfare of unwanted and/or neglected pets. We do not have a facility, we have a network of foster homes for the placement of animals awaiting their forever homes. Haven of the Ozarks Animal SanctuaryWe are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) facility offering long-term care to dogs and cats until they can be found a loving forever home. We are a true no-kill facility. Only suffering animals with untreatable conditions and those rare, unpredictably vicious dogs (average 1 per yr) are put down. (Feral and 'barn' cats are allowed to roam the grounds freely after spay/neuter). Located on over 11 acres near Cassville in Southwest Missouri, we have one paid Operations Manager, and exist with a handful of dedicated volunteers and the good will and generosity of people who care about the welfare of animals. Our cats live in ‘Community Rooms’ with plenty of space to climb, play, and hide, and are caged only when in need of isolation to maintain good health for all. One room has an outdoor area, with plans for more. Our dogs live in large, outdoor pens – most 16’x16’ for 2 dogs, and 30’x90’ fields holding 3 dogs each.
