We foster and place cats and dogs who have been surrendered by their owners, abandoned, or are at risk of being euthanized by the local animal shelter. We are an all volunteer organization with no paid employees, officers, or directors. 100% of your donation goes toward food, medical and adoption costs of the animals. Your donations allow us to rescue more homeless animals and educate people about the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. Our work focuses us on the Northshore in areas such as Mandeville, Covington, Madisonville, Folsom and Slidell. Lafayette Animal AidWe are a no-kill shelter in Lafayette (Carencro), LA that houses at the shelter, on average, 65 dogs and 65 cats. We also provide for more animals living in foster homes. All of our animals are current on shots, and all are spayed/neutered. Cats are tested and vaccinated for Feluk and FIV. Dogs are tested for heartworms and if necessary, treated. We do not discriminate against any animal due to size, age, color, breed, or behavioral problems, unless the animal is too aggressive for our volunteers to handle and poses a threat to other animals and volunteers. ROICY DUHON ANIMAL CONTROL CENTERWe are an euthanizing shelter due to over population in our parish (county) and are governed by the City-Parish Police Department. Our official name is the Roicy Duhon Animal Control Center, named after a dedicated worker, friend, coach, and community member who passed away. We receive many animals in our shelter each day. From lost and found pets to strays and pregnant moms, we accept any and all animals who need a home. Unfortunately, due to space limitations, we are not able to house all the animals that pass through our doors. Each day, some of the animals are available on a first-come, first serve basis during the hours we are open. Sorry, but we DO NOT offer Pit Bull or Chow dogs for adoption to the general public. While many of the animals turned in to the center do not have history or health records, they deserve a second chance. We cannot guarantee a pet's health, nor provide any medical information such as previous vaccinations or problems, however, we recommend that any animals that you adopt receive a general health check by a veterinarian within a 72 hour period. St. Martin Humane SocietyThe St. Martin Humane Society was founded in April 1999 by a group of concerned citizens. The Society obtained a 501 (c3) tax exemption status in June 2000 and relies on community support and fund raising to fulfill its mission. We have pets for adoption from different sources (strays, owner released...) and we rely solely on foster homes for the animal in our care. We also work very hard to try to reduce the overpopulation of domestic animals in the area served by the Society through low cost and free spay-neuter programs. Humane Society of Louisiana - Acadia ChapterOur mission and goal is to save lives. Our organization investigates cases of animal abuse and neglect. Most of our animals come into our shelter through seizures or they are rescued from local pounds. We also remove stray animals living on the streets and try placing them in loving homes.
