Lafayette Animal AidWe are a no-kill shelter in Lafayette (Carencro), LA that houses at the shelter, on average, 65 dogs and 65 cats. We also provide for more animals living in foster homes. All of our animals are current on shots, and all are spayed/neutered. Cats are tested and vaccinated for Feluk and FIV. Dogs are tested for heartworms and if necessary, treated. We do not discriminate against any animal due to size, age, color, breed, or behavioral problems, unless the animal is too aggressive for our volunteers to handle and poses a threat to other animals and volunteers. Intakes are dependent upon availability of space at the shelter. Adoption fees for both cats and dogs are $80.00.P. O. Lake Area Partnership for Animal WelfareHow We Operate: Our group is made up of Lake Area residents who by working together to raise funds have committed to helping homeless dogs receive a second chance at finding a home. We operate by holding fundraisers and receiving donations any donations are gratefully appreciated and tax deductable. We are not part of any publicly run facility so we do not receive funds except those that we are able to raise.. Your donations are used to rescue animals, provide vaccinations, heartworm treatments, heartworm preventative, spay/neuter, buy dog food and much, much more!! None of our group receives compensation for the work that we do. Please help us rescue those dogs in the Lake Area in need of help. We can not continue to do what we do without the public being supportive of us. We do not have a phsyical shelter to house our animals. All of our animals are housed in our own homes. We currently do not have the space for any more fosters at this time. Please do not contact us if you are attempting to get rid of an unwanted pet. P.A.W.S. (Plaquemines Animal Welfare Society)"Paws"Plaquemines Animal Welfare Society" adoption center is open from 1:00- 5:00 Monday through Saturday. You are welcome to drop in to visit our animals. We have adoption days most Saturdays at PetsMart,1821 Manhattan Blvd., Harvey, La We have some of our cats at Petsmart seven days a week. Applications are welcome through the web-site or in person. Pawprints and Purrs, Inc.Pawprints and Purrs, Inc. (P&PI) is a small all volunteer, animal non-profit rescue organization located in Keithville, Louisiana. We provide an animal educational service to the public by teaching the prevention of animal cruelty, pet guardianship responsibility, and basic cat and dog health care. Our rescue and adoption work is primarily taking an active part in TNR and assisting other feral cat care givers with the socializing, fostering, adopting, and transporting kittens and cats to their new forever homes in our immediate area. We strongly emphasize the value of rescuing and re-homing abandoned, neglected and homeless felines. We assist those in need by providing rescue, shelter, medical care, and locating permanent homes. Pet Adoption Services IncPet Adoption Services, Inc. is a non-profit all breed cat and dog rescue organization in New Orleans. Supported by over 20 volunteer members, Pet Adoption Services was founded in 1996, although some of our members have been involved in rescue for as long as 20 years. Our mission is to secure loving permanent homes for homeless, abandoned or abused cats and dogs of all breeds. While awaiting adoption, our animals live in the homes of one of our foster parents. During this time the animals receive any necessary veterinary care, including but not limited to, vaccinations, spaying or neutering and perhaps heartworm treatment. Our experienced foster parents continually assess each pet's personality and temperament allowing us to place adoptable cats and dogs in just the right permanent home. Pet Adoption Services participates in adoption days during which time, potential adopters get the opportunity to meet and spend time with the animals in a "real life" situation. Pet Adoption Services holds several fundraisers throughout the calendar year so that we can continue to meet the needs of homeless animals. Riverlands SPCAOur Mission The Riverlands SPCA is dedicated to eliminating animal suffering, specifically cats and dogs. We are dedicated to eliminating pet overpopulation. We strongly urge every pet owner to spay and/or neuter their pet(s). We support legislation intent on eliminating cruelty to animals. Also, we supports laws that prohibit animal fighting, especially dog fighting. We work to reduce the number of cats living in feral cat colonies by capture, spay, and release. We investigate animal cruelty allegations and strongly support the prosecution of offenders. We rescue animals that are abandoned, injured, abused, or just homeless. Our members toil daily to find a suitable companion for all of our resident animals. At present, we do not own or operate a facility. ROICY DUHON ANIMAL CONTROL CENTERWe are an euthanizing shelter due to over population in our parish (county) and are governed by the City-Parish Police Department. Our official name is the Roicy Duhon Animal Control Center, named after a dedicated worker, friend, coach, and community member who passed away. We receive many animals in our shelter each day. From lost and found pets to strays and pregnant moms, we accept any and all animals who need a home. Unfortunately, due to space limitations, we are not able to house all the animals that pass through our doors. Each day, some of the animals are available on a first-come, first serve basis during the hours we are open. Sorry, but we DO NOT offer Pit Bull or Chow dogs for adoption to the general public. While many of the animals turned in to the center do not have history or health records, they deserve a second chance. We cannot guarantee a pet's health, nor provide any medical information such as previous vaccinations or problems, however, we recommend that any animals that you adopt receive a general health check by a veterinarian within a 72 hour period.
