The Friends of the Jefferson Animal Shelter is a nonprofit organization and public charity. Our mission is to assist the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter by implementing programs to provide care for animals too young to be housed at the shelter, adoption programs to decrease the number of animals that must be euthanized by the shelter, and otherwise assisting as advised of needs by the shelter directors and staff. We currently have the following programs in place: 1. Monthly Pet Adoption Days - Animals from the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter are brought to offsite locations each month by our volunteers. Many people find a visit to the shelter too stressful, so offsite Pet Adoption Days provide potential adopters an alternative place to see the shelter animals. 2. Volunteers help maintain the Cat Adoption Center, known as The Purr Pad at Jefferson Feed, Pet & Garden Center, which features felines from the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter. 3. The Kitten Fostering Program - we began this program in April 2001 to give shelter kittens younger than six weeks old a chance to reach adoptable age by being fostered in the homes of volunteers. This minimizes their exposure to disease and provides the care and nurturing they need to become loving companions. 4. Shelter Dog Socialization - This program is brand new and provides shelter dogs with exercise, socialization, and obedience training on weekday afternoons.

The HSA is a newly formed group dedicated to providing the best possible care for as many abandonned and abused animals as resources permit. We are a small group of volunteers and foster homes and we are learning as we go. We serve the Avoyelles Parish area and are restricted to taking certain pets. We try to find homes for our rescued pets, we post our adoptable pets online and we also bring them to PetsMart in Alexandria on weekend adoption days.

Our mission and goal is to save lives. Our organization investigates cases of animal abuse and neglect. Most of our animals come into our shelter through seizures or they are rescued from local pounds. We also remove stray animals living on the streets and try placing them in loving homes. Our organiztion is non-profit and we depend on donations and fundraisers to survive. Because my organization is small with few volunteers and no shelter we are limited on the amount of animals we can save. These animals are housed on my property and a few are in foster homes.

The Humane Society of West Louisiana was founded in August of 1998. We are a small group of volunteers that rescue abandoned, abused or neglected animals. We provide a safe environment for the animals and get them medical care. The animals are evaluated for their health and their temperment, and then put in foster homes until they are adopted. Our goal is to end the cycle of pet overpopulation through spaying and neutering; to educate the public about pet ownership responsibility; and to end animal abuse through education. Remember, there is no excuse for abuse!

In The Nick Of Time Animal Rescue
Who We Are
We are nothing more than a couple of kids who care. I am Jeanne Daley and my roomate/greatest helper in the world is Lisa Larison. We get no outside funding, so all of the expenses are placed on my shoulders. We are 24 years old, we work very hard to make sure our "babies" have what they need. If any gracious soul out there would like to make a donation (being that my income just doesn't cut it sometimes) feel free to call (318) -641-7403 for our mailing address. All donations go straight to vet care, Frontline, Heartguard, food, and supplies. Also, if anyone would like to send supplies of ANY KIND we are always in need of Frontline (0-100lbs), Heartguard (0-100lbs.), food (anything except Ol' Roy will do), old blankets, chew toys, crates, treats, leashes, food bowls... Really, anything is more appreciated than you could know. If anyone would like to sponsor a pet just give us a call at 318-641-7403 or email me at majikgrrrl1999@yahoo.com, and we can absolutly work it out! Thanks for your support!! And remember -- Don't breed or buy when others Die!!!
