Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter

Orphans of the Storm has spent most of a century caring for stray, abandoned, abused and neglected dogs and cats from northeast Illinois. Our history is a colorful one, starting with famous dancer and fashion trendsetter Irene Castle, continuing through the dedication and commitment of animal welfare activist Thelma Zwirner, and her son and current president, Richard Zwirner. We operate one of the country’s oldest and largest animal shelters, offering refuge and rehabilitation, finding warm and loving adoptive homes for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs and cats every year. We hope that once you get to know us, you’ll want to become a supporter by adopting from us, spreading the word about us, or helping in other ways.

P.F.S. (Pets for Seniors)

P.F.S. (which stands for Pets for Seniors) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose main purpose is to match older, compatible shelter cats and dogs with qualifying senior citizens. In addition to finding a pet for a senior citizen, we pay most of the adoption fee and offer other services in this area. For a list of those services visit our website at www.petsforseniors.org . In additon to this, we occasionally rescue and foster exceptional animals from animal control facilities when their time is up. These animals are available for adoption to any qualfying person over the age of 21. There is an adoption fee to help cover our vet expenses with a reduced fee to seniors. Although we now have a shelter facility for our fosters, we require appointments. Please call us to arrange to meet the available animals.

PAWS Chicago

Founded in 1997, PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) Chicago is the city's largest non-profit, no-kill humane organization. Our work is focused on alleviating our city's tragic pet overpopulation problem--over 24,000 dogs and cats were euthanized in Chicago in 2004. PAWS Chicago envisions a no-kill Chicago--a city in which no pets are destroyed just because they are homeless.

Pets Without Parents of Logan and Mason Counties

"Pets Without Parents of Mason & Logan Counties" is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization located in Central Illinois. We are a foster based organization that takes in strays, abandoned, lost and abused cats, kittens, dogs and puppies and help to find them new homes. Our funding is strictly from donations and fund-raising. The pets in our care receive veterinary services, socialization, basic obedience training, and LOTS OF LOVE! It is our belief that these pets are a member of our family (if only for a short time) and so they will only be adopted to "parents" that will treat them as family members, too. Please join us and help make life better for unfortunate pets without parents!
