Our goal is to place as many pets in forever homes as possible and educate our community about the importance of spaying/neutering and routine healthcare: such as yearly vaccinations, once-a-year heartworm testing and monthly heartworm prevention and flea control. We also stress the importance of microchipping your pets so that they can always find their way home!

Haven Acres Cat Sanctuary was established in 2003 by three individuals driven by a strong desire to help the many stray, feral, and unwanted cats in Alachua County. The sanctuary is located in High Springs, Florida, which is about 20 minutes outside of Gainesville, Florida. Since its inception, no cat that has needed help has been turned away. Cats that live at the sanctuary are kept on a healthy diet (Science Diet) and are provided with safe, secure housing. Along with being spayed/neutered they are also provided with any other medical attention needed. Many of the cats are adoptable and wait for a forever home to come get them. Cats that are less adoptable due to age, temperament, or color have a safe, loving home at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives.

We are a NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL Humane Society and function on donations only. We need donations to help all the animals, and to continue to fund our free spay/neuter vouchers program for the public. To date we have not had to destroy any abuse or rescue animals. We have brought back to health and saved every single one. Considering the near death condtion some of them were in, we feel this is a GREAT accomplishment!

Feisty Acres is a nonprofit no-kill animal rescue organization serving Marion, Alachua, Citrus and Levy counties in North Central Florida. We receive no government funding; we are supported exclusively by donations.
The animals you will see here have come from a variety of situations: Some were strays for whom an owner could not be found. Some were purposely abandoned. Some were brought to us by owners who could no longer keep them or no longer wanted them. Some were referred to us by local veterinarians. Some came from other shelters where they would have been euthanized. What they all have in common is that they need loving homes.
