Pet Pal Rescue Inc.Pet Pal Rescue was founded in the early 1980's by two women when they realized the high number of animals that were being euthanized due to pet overpopulation and neglect. Driven by their passion for animals and desire to make a difference, they began taking animals from shelters, bringing them directly into their homes, and then finding permanent homes for each and every one of them. By 1988, they organized Pet Pal Rescue as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. SPCA of Tampa BayThe Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has served as every Tampa Bay pet owner's safety net for 65 years. According to an article in the St. Petersburg Times (2000) more than 77,000 dogs and cats are turned over to shelters in Hillsborough and pinellas counties annually. Of those dogs that are admitted to shelters, almost 25 percent are purebred. The SPCA provides services to between 16,000 and 18,000 homeless and abandoned animals every year. Friends of StraysFriends of Strays is a non-profit, volunteer organization founded in September 1978 and is dedicated to the care and adoption of homeless pets. The organization is funded by individual contributions, wills, bequests, memberships, and proceeds from our Thrift Shop. Friends of Strays provides services to the most needy section of our pet population, the homeless animals of Pinellas County. These services include the daily care, sterilization and temporary shelter until adoption of the pet can be arranged. We are also active in programs that educate the public about humane treatment and care of animals.
