Del Norte Dogs
We are a small rescue group , that works directly with the local dog pound. For more info call 1 (707) 458 3564. In Del Norte County , located in the far northwest corner of California. Our philosophy is to find responsible owners for the many good dogs who may soon be euthanized at the Del Norte County Animal Shelter. We seek permanent homes and also work with other northern and central California rescues by holding dogs while transportation is being arranged. We can help arrange transport., in special cases.

Shannon visits care homes frequently with “therapy animals to brighten the day of handicapped and elderly people.
Shannon talks at assemblies at many local schools, discussing animal care, the importance of spay and neuter, and how to approach strange dogs.
During the school year, we provide tours of our rescue to hundreds of local school children.
Miranda’s Rescue provides many opportunities for community members to volunteers. There are now over 40 active volunteers who do everything from cleaning cat boxes and walking dogs to answering phones and writing newsletter articles. The rescue could not function without all these wonderful volunteers

The Orphan Kitten Project is a non-profit program run by the Feline Medicine Club at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Orphaned and abandoned neonatal kittens under 4 weeks of age are taken in from the community and given a complete physical exam by the project coordinators. These kittens are then fostered by veterinary students who bottle raise them in their own homes. The kittens are weaned, FeLV tested, spayed or neutered, treated for any parasitic or bacterial infections, and received their first two FVRCP vaccinations before they are put up for adoption, usually by 10-12 weeks of age.
