We are proud to be one of the few “No - Kill shelters in the United States. The “No - Kill policy ensures that we do not euthanize animals on a routine basis in order to make room for other animals.Since inception in 1977, the Beltrami Humane Society has helped over 10,000 animals with a second chance at life. We are very proud of these and other efforts which have made our dream a reality and now allows us to provide even greater quality service for more than 500 animals per year.

Serving since 1919, the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society is an open admission facility that takes in abandoned, abused, homeless, and unwanted animals that need tender loving care until they can find a permanent home. Our mission is to help these animals find their new permanent home, prevent animal cruelty, and educate people on the humane treatment of animals.
The SFAHS takes in about 7,000-8,000 animals a year. These animals are mostly dogs and cats as well as rabbits, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, lizards of any kind, birds, and wildlife for rehabilitation.
