Western Reserve Humane Society
This is a no-kill, animal rescue organization. We look to match homeless and rescued animals with loving owners. We do screening on prospective homes in order to protect the animals and be sure they are going to a good home for life. We accept donations, and will not under any circumstances euthanize animals who have taken to long to be adopted. We receive discounted spay/neuter rates from various veterinarians to assist the new pet owners. Our adoption fee is just enough to cover the low-cost spay and neuter of the prospective pet.

As a public pound, the adoption process is quite simple: you pay a $20 fee, and sign a legal contract committing to having the dog sterilized within 30 days (or face a $250 fine plus confiscation of the animal). Please call the shelter directly (804-493-0869) and leave a message on the machine if you are interested in learning more about or definitely want to adopt a dog or puppy on the Website.

Westside Strays is a network of volunteers and foster homes in Central Ohio who rescue and adopt out strays and other unwanted pets. All of our dogs and cats are vaccinated and spayed or neutered before adoption. We have no shelter facility; all of our animals are kept in private foster homes, and are evaluated for health and temperament prior to adoption.

The Whatcom Humane Society (WHS) has been caring for animals throughout Whatcom County since 1902.
As the oldest non-profit animal welfare organization in Whatcom County, WHS is committed to caring for any animal in need. As an open-admission shelter, the dedicated staff and volunteers at the Whatcom Humane Society cared for approximately 2,600 homeless, unwanted and abused animals in 2003.
The Whatcom Humane Society has a long-standing, positive working relationship with the City of Bellingham, having provided 24 hour animal control and rescue services since 1973.
In addition to providing these services for the City of Bellingham, WHS also has animal control contracts with the Cities of Blaine, Sumas, Everson/Nooksack and a working agreement with the Nooksack Indian Reservation.

Whatcom Voice of the Animals (WVOA) has a simple mission for its existence, to save as many lives as possible from needless death. We are a no-kill organization that has no central shelter. Instead, our compassionate volunteers open their homes as foster care facilities. Animals staying in foster care are cared for and nurtured until adoptions are arranged.

When There's a Will, There's a Way is a rescue that is based on foster homes. Right now, we are a very small group of individuals with a shared love for animals. All the expenses are out of our pocket right now. We do not have non-profit status, but hope to achieve that one day
