The San Diego Humane Society and SPCA has been serving San Diego County since 1880, providing vital services to animals and people alike through sheltering and adopting animals, providing positive reinforcement behavior training for adoptable animals and for owned animals through public training classes, investigating animal cruelty and neglect, providing adult and youth education programs, sharing animals through pet-assisted therapy and rescuing animals in emergency situations.
A private nonprofit organization that receives no public or government funding, the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA is supported solely by contributions, grants, bequests, investments, proceeds from the Humane Society’s retail store, Muttique, and some fees for service.

Diego Pet Rescue focuses on rescuing unwanted animals either from owners who can no longer keep them or pets from local shelters who would otherwise be euthanized. They are then brought into our network of foster home program, where they are given a second chance at finding a loving home.

The City of San José created the Animal Care & Services division in 2001. This was in response to the Humane Society Silicon Valley's notification that they could no longer continue providing shelter and field service contracts for Santa Clara County cities. With the completion of the City of San José's new Animal Care Center, the City of San José itself is now providing shelter and field services for San José residents and for residents of Cupertino, Los Gatos, Milpitas and Saratoga.

The San Luis Valley Animal Welfare Society is a nonprofit (501c3) with a mission to improve the wellbeing of animals (primarily dogs & cats) in the San Luis Valley (SLV). We have active rescue and spay/neuter programs. We have rescued over 2,000 homeless often suffering dogs and cats in the past 3 years. We have received numerous grants for spay/neutering dogs and cats in this valley to reduce the number of homeless pet animals. All charitable donations to us are tax deductible and will be acknowledged with a card so stating. The SLV is the largest alpine valley in the world (roughly the size of Connecticut) and currently does not have a no-kill animal welfare facility. Our goal is to build a low up-front cost, low-operating-cost, sustainable, no-kill animal welfare facility. The San Luis Valley is the poorest area of the state.
