The National Foundation for Animal Rescue (NFFAR) is a no-kill animal rescue organization based in northern New Jersey. NFFAR is an all-foster network committed to helping cats and dogs in need of homes. While NFFAR strives to receive grants, it is a very small portion of our total funding. Individual donations are our most important source of income.
Our purpose is to provide medical assistance, foster homes, and adoption services to previously lost, abandoned, abused, or neglected animals in the New Jersey area as well as assisting animals and people in other states. These animals are dependant on our commitment to care for them.

The N.H.S. and its H.E.R.O. (Health-Education-Rescue-Operations) Program that provides a public service dedicated to stopping the killing of cats and dogs. Pet overpopulation is a People Problem and we have the solution. Traditional animal control is primitive and inhumane. Animals MUST NOT be born to die! THEY DESERVE MUCH BETTER. The National Humane Society will work to assist and motivate shelters to decrease and eventually eliminate euthanasia of adoptable dogs and cats. N.H.S. will work to assist in other locations and with groups throughout Florida and the Southeast in pursuit of the same goals.

The Naugatuck Animal Shelter is a municipal animal control facility. As much as we can, we provide the basics of care for the animals, but what they really need is a loving stable home environment to truly be happy. All pets must be family members-kept indoors as part of the family.
