We are a pound, not a shelter. Unfortunately we do have to euthanize for lack of space and dogs may only be held for 8 days if space becomes an issue. So please contact us immediately if you see a dog you would like to adopt because their time may be almost up. With the help of Petfinder.com and various rescue organizations we have been operating for over one year now as a no kill shelter. With your support, we hope to continue operating this way forever.

The shelter is frequently overcrowded with pets who desperately need your help. Please consider adopting one of our dogs, cats, puppies, or kittens. If you cannot adopt, please help by spreading the word. Also remember the importance of spaying/neutering to help control pet overpopulation. As our organization is not affiliated with the Putnam County Humane Society (they are a separate organization), we are constantly in need of donations (i.e. cash donations, dog/cat food, newspapers, blankets, kitty litter, bleach, lysol, etc.). If you are looking for a special type or breed of animal, please call our shelter at 586-0249.

Paw's Place is a 5 acre humanitarian facility, operating entirely on donations and volunteers, out of a love for animals. Paw's Place accomodates lost, abandoned, and injured dogs and cats. We give our animal friends an opportunity to be loved, have a chance at life, and hopefully, find a new family. We began in May of 1991. Our main purpose has always been to rescue and place "orphan" cats into safe and loving homes. To achieve this goal we found that it was advantageous to bring together various rescue groups and private individuals who had the common need of placing cats they had rescued. Cat Crossing provides the staff to run adoption "shows." Our responsibilities are diverse, our staff does everything from screening prospective homes to buying advertising and providing the administrative backup needed to run our now extensive adoption program. All of our staff are volunteers.
