Most of our cats have been rescued from an out-of-town Animal Control, typically the day before they would be euthanized. Action Volunteers for Animals - BoltonWelcome to the home page of Action Volunteers for Animals! Action Volunteers for Animals is just what its name suggests: an organization of people who are active on behalf of non-human animals, and who give their time and energy without monetary reward. AVA began in 1972 as a group of Toronto Humane Society workers who kept THS shelter animals alive during a strike of regular shelter staff. They decided to continue to work together after the strike ended, and to call themselves Action Volunteers For Animals. AVA became a registered charity in 1980. Our organization serves Toronto and the surrounding area and helps animals in two ways: through hands-on work and through the promotion of animal rights Please note that AVA does not have a shelter but operates on a foster home basis therefore AVA will provide assistance to those who are willing to take an active part in the rescue of an animal, in other words, are willing to foster. Affection ConnectionWe are Affection Connection. We are part of Banks Animal Hospital. Banks Animal Hospital has been in operation since 1937, and the adoption program has been in operation for more than 8 years. We have had tremendous success in matching kittens with new homes. Most often people in our neighbourhood bring us kittens from stray cats that have had litters in their garages or under their porches. On the odd occassion we do come to work at 7:00 in the morning to find a box of kittens on our doorstep.
