We are an Animal Control facility that is run by the County Government. We accept owner surrendered pets as well as stray animals. At times we have exotics and livestock. We have our own surgery facility with a contracted veterinarian. We spay and neuter every adopted animal that leaves our facility. We also vaccinate for the major diseases as well as heartworm test dogs and Leukemia/FIV test cats. All dogs have a microchip inserted. Please be aware that if you adopt a pet from us that it will not be ready to go home with you until it has had its surgery. Most animals go home the next day. All animals have to be held "stray" time if they have no owner. Therefore, the animals "stray" time must be up before it can be adopted.

The TCHS was incorporated on December 11th, 1974.
Mission Statement

This society serves the community, both animals and people, primarily by:
providing quality care and adoption services for animals in need,
offering educational programs to encourage the awareness, understanding and practice of humane principles, and
handling questions and complaints regarding animal care and behavior, including alleged cruelty, and neglect cases.

We value:
Clean, cheerful, healthy, and inviting atmosphere for both animals and people,
Our professional and compassionate staff who provide daily care for the animals at the shelter and insure a successful adoption program, and
Our volunteers who, in assisting the staff in daily animal care, willingly take on both pleasant and unpleasant tasks.
EDUCATION
Through our educational programs, we teach humane and well-informed animal care.
We strive to:
Inform people of the problem of pet overpopulation and the multiple benefits of spaying and neutering their pets,
Help pet owners to understand total animal care, including how to meet their pets= nutritional, behavioral, and social needs,
Emphasize a sense of responsibility and the realization that pet ownership involves a lifelong commitment, and
Create an awareness of our mission in the community at large.
