Waccamaw Animal Rescue MissionWaccamaw Animal Rescue Mission (WARM) is a registered 501 (c)(3) SC charity whose mission is to rescue and rehabilitate wild, farm and domestic animals. WARM is a No-Kill refuge located in Conway and home to over 200+ animals at any given time. The organization provides valuable service to the community through animal rescue, education and adoption of its rescued animals into permanent, loving homes. Since 1994 our ongoing goals have consisted of the following: -- To provide facilities for the rehabilitation of wildlife & domestic animals. -- Educate adults & children in the importance of preservation of land & animals. -- To operate as a self sufficient facility with a caring staff. -- To advocate spaying & neutering. -- Locate loving homes for domestic animals. WARM is committed to returning wild animals to suitable habitats and domestic animals to new homes following rehabilitation. For those animals that release or adoption proves impossible, our Conway refuge becomes a permanent home. WARM is organized by a board of directors and volunteers who donate their time toward helping the organization and the limited staff members. Julie Finlayson, the founder and executive director is a well known local naturalist with over 35 years experience in wildlife rehabilitation. Her education includes certificate in wildlife rehabilitation, Master in Science & Education, and a degree in Biology. Humane Society of CulpeperThe Humane Society of Culpeper (Virginia) is a small nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting abused and abandoned companion animals in our community by conducting adoption and spay/neuter programs. Through the efforts of dedicated volunteers plus one full-time employee, we have saved more than 6,000 dogs and cats since our founding in November 2000. Providing Comfort and Care Many of the beautiful dogs and cats available for adoption were found wandering rural areas alone, while others were surrendered by owners unable or unwilling to keep them. The Humane Society of Culpeper provides needed veterinary care (including spay/neuter surgery) and places these abandoned animals with loving foster families. These special caregivers ensure that each animal enjoys a warm bed, a full belly, and plenty of gentle care until we identify a loving and responsible permanent home. Volunteers take available dogs and cats to adoption events at area pet stores each weekend. The Humane Society of Culpeper reaches out to other rescue groups to find safe haven for as many animals as possible. We also offer a low-cost spay/neuter program to county residents. Our Vision We are currently seeking donations of land and funds to build the first no-kill animal rescue center in Culpeper County. At this facility, the Humane Society of Culpeper plans to promote responsible pet ownership through adoption programs, owner education, obedience training, animal rehabilitation, and a low-cost spay/neuter clinic. Kirby's Friends Animal RescueWe've been around officially for two years. We have a shelter in Saginaw County but our office is at the Flint address. We are primarily a dog rescue although we've placed birds and rabbits once or twice. We are an all-breed rescue. We specialize in big, black dogs, and mixed breeds because they are the last to get adopted but we love them all. Abandoned Pet Rescuebandoned Pet Rescue (APR) founded in 1996, is a 501 ( c ) (3) IRS tax-exempt, qualified charitable organization that rescues and shelters abandoned, abused, and neglected pets, rehabilitates them and finds them new homes. APR is one of the largest no kill animal shelters in South Florida, where volunteers perform the duties of running the shelter operations on a day to day basis. APR is devoted to the welfare of all animals. Most of the over 500 animals are Cats, Dogs, Bunnies, Birds, Parrots, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, Mice, Rats, Iguanas, and other animals in need of help. While pet over population is declining throughout the country, the number of animals brought to South Florida shelters is increasing. APR's primary goal is to assemble a no-kill community.
