Lakewood Animal Shelter / CCLAS - Citizens' Committee for a Lakewood Animal ShelterLakewood is the first city/suburb west of Cleveland on the shores of Lake Erie. We are the only community northwest of Cleveland in our county who shelter our strays and try to find adoptable homes for them. All animals in the shelter come in off the streets of Lakewood, are abandoned, or taken in due to neglect. CCLAS is the support group for the shelter. We were founded over 20 years ago because Lakewood had no shelter - now we help fund the spay/neuter programs, supply volunteers to help the shelter wardens, supply foster homes as needed, and educate the public. Majestic Waterfowl SanctuaryWhat happened at Spaulding Pond happens on ponds, creeks, and lakes everywhere. Our mission here at the Majestic Waterfowl Sanctuary is to stop this vicious cycle of abandonment and death -- first at the local level here in Connecticut and ultimately at the national level through rescue, rehabilitation, placement, and education. If we find a duck or goose that is abandoned, we humanely capture it and bring it to our sanctuary for care and medical treatment.
