The Macaw Landing Foundation (MLF) Inc. was incorporated in April of 1992 as a 501(c)-3) non-profit organization. We are registered with the IRS and the Department of Justice., State of Oregon. The foundation is operated solely by volunteers, which happily allows us to spend all the donated money entirely on Macaws. (Projects Funded) The foundation is dedicated to the preservation of Macaws. We, as a conservation organization, promote and apply scientifically based information from the field to the propagation of endangered Macaws, to wildlife management, and to environmental education, while building public awareness and supporting other organizations that work to preserve Macaws in the wild.

The purpose of MADACC is to provide: shelter, care and disposition of stray dogs and cats, the search and recovery of lost pets, county quarantine services of biter animals for rabies observation, REFERRAL services for wildlife problems, and to promote responsible pet ownership through client education and the licensing of dogs and cats. To accomplish these goals, MADACC utilizes a variety of resources through networking and coordination with metropolitan area humane societies. Adoption referral extends far beyond the immediate area of Milwaukee County allowing for permanent animal placements with breed rescue groups, exotic animal specialists, wildlife sanctuaries, and wildlife preservation refuges and zoos. For the health and safety of the public, MADACC will not authorize the release, to a breed placement group or a humane society, of any animal that has a history of incident resulting in bite attack or has any known aggressive tendencies.

What happened at Spaulding Pond happens on ponds, creeks, and lakes everywhere. Our mission here at the Majestic Waterfowl Sanctuary is to stop this vicious cycle of abandonment and death -- first at the local level here in Connecticut and ultimately at the national level through rescue, rehabilitation, placement, and education. If we find a duck or goose that is abandoned, we humanely capture it and bring it to our sanctuary for care and medical treatment. Once it is physically and emotionally healthy, we do everything we can to find it an appropriate and permanent home.

We rescue purebred Dobermans and exotic birds. We are NOT a 501-c3 (donations are not tax deductible). We take care of the bills for the animals with the help of our wonderful vet, and a handful of other Doberman and Bird lovers. For the past 25+ years (and don't ask me [Chuck, Mary's husband] exactly how many years!) Mary has been involved with rescuing just about anything that came along (including me!). She is very knowledgeable in canine and parrot behavior and has a degree in Animal Science. She is also a groomer, dog trainer, pet sitter, and an animal massage practioner. She also represents a holistic pet food/nutritional supplements company out of Florida. She has taken her birds into libraries and schools to educate children about pet care and responsibility. We are a family affair! Our sons Andrew, Stephen, and Joseph have grown up around the animals and have become very knowledgeable in pet care, etc. They are a tremendous help to the rescue efforts.
