Assisi Bird Hospital & SanctuaryThe sanctuary was set up out of the need in Mississauga for a non-profit organization to fund the veterinary & rehabilitation expenses for injured wild animals and birds. The main goal of the organization funded by donations to the project is to provide refuge, veterinary care and rehabilitation to the wild life that have been displaced from their normal habitat. Due to the explosive expansion of residential, commercial and industrial development, the few remaining pockets of virgin growth and wetlands are becoming isolated from each other and consequently unable to sustain the wild life population.
